Take Home Kits
Introducing… activity kits! The library is happy to now provide activity kits that you can reserve and pick-up in addition to your books. We have a variety of kits for different ages and interests- and some even come with a live program you can attend to help you socialize and work on your project!
How do they work?
If you see a kit you would like, call the library at (631)725-0049 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to request it for Plaza Pick-Up. Once we have the kit ready to pick up (along with any books you may have on hold), we will give you a call and hold your items for up to one week. When you are ready to pick them up, simply call us right before you arrive at the library, or from our outdoor plaza, and we will place your items outside on the table for you in a bag. If you have bad cell phone reception, you can also just knock on the door and then step back, and a staff member will be right out to help you.
Plaza Pick-Up Hours
Tuesday-Friday, 12:30 – 5:30 pm
Saturdays, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Cross Stitching Kit “Ma Petite Etoile”
Meaning “My Little Star” in French, this free DMC pattern is the perfect gift for new parents or your own little one. Get instructions, thread, and material for one pattern- all you need is your own needle (we recommend tapestry, size 27) and embroidery hoop, if you use one. We have limited availability of yellow/blue kits and pink/teal kits- please ask when calling for color availability.
Bad Art Kit
A freestyle craft for teens. Get a bag of random art supplies, and use supplies from your home, and make the “worst” piece of art you can imagine! This could be a sculpture, painting, mobile, etc. When you are finished, take a photo and send it to email@example.com and we will post the photo on our Teen Instagram page @JJMLteens.
Coloring Sheet Kit
Teens will get a packet of 10 coloring sheets with varying levels of intricacy, all you need is colored pencils!
Beaded Necklace Kit
Kids will get one beaded chain necklace and a handful of beads to create a necklace they can wear for the summer!
Friendship Bracelets 102
Pick up your materials and join us via Zoom on August 20, from 5:00-6:00 pm to make your very own friendship bracelet to wear (or share!) for the summer with Megan Schmidt! To reserve your place in the program and your kit:
Kids will get a stack of colorful origami paper with a step-by-step list of projects they can use to help them create a paper masterpiece.
Scratch Art Kit
Kids will get two rainbow magic scratch sheets and one wooden stylus. Reveal the bright colors and patterns beneath the matte coating with just a simple scratch!
