Voyager’s Journey: A Grand Tour of the Solar System
August 22, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
Free
This summer marks the 30th anniversary of Voyager 2’s rendezvous with Neptune, the outermost of the distant gas giant planets. The Voyager probes have continued their mission ever since, exploring the space between the stars and serving as humanity’s emissaries to the universe. What made these historic expeditions to Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune possible, and what have we learned from them? Montauk Observatory Senior Educator and NASA Solar System Ambassador William Francis Taylor will tell the story of the Voyagers and their makers. Weather permitting, the talk will be followed by a telescopic tour of the planets. Co-sponsored with the Montauk Observatory. Registration required, limit 70.
Thursday, August 22, 7:00 pm
Registration information: Register online using this calendar starting July 1st at 10:00 am. Registration ends an hour before the program.
