This program will take place in our lower level program room.
For ages 12+
Whether you’re beginner or experienced player, join us at the library to learn from instructor David Beard, and build the skills needed to play a fun game of chess.
David grew up in Maine and was introduced to chess by his father (of course) and George Cunningham, who founded the University of Maine’s chess club
. He played through elementary and high school, cumulating as the 1984 Eastern Maine Chess Champion. David brings a teaching methodology, developed by George Cunningham, to help beginning and intermediate players develop competency of the game.
While on-line chess has brought a new aspect to the game and its teachings, we hope everyone in our community can benefit from a few hours each week of face to face play and instruction. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn form the best!
Chess Club for Teens and Adults will meet each Thursday at 6 – 8pm for 6 weeks May 19 – June 23. You’re welcome to come to all or just a few. Please register for each class separately.
