Activity: Arts & Crafts

May 6 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am EDT

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and it is a time to celebrate your Mom or someone special in your life by making them a homemade hand bouquet craft! Please gather the following materials that you may find in your home: three pieces of construction paper or any type of blank piece of paper, markers, scissors, glue and tissue paper.

Steps to create a hand bouquet craft:

Step 1: Trace your hand and forearm on one of the pieces of construction paper using a pencil, pen or marker.

Step 2: Cut out your tracing and place it to the side for now.

Step 3: Cut out long strips of paper to create stems for the flowers. Place it to the side for now.

Step 4: Place a piece of construction paper in front of you vertically. Glue the stem strips of paper to the center of the paper. Then take your hand tracing and glue it over the stems at the bottom of the page to make it look like your hand is holding the flowers (see image for guidance).

Step 5: Rip up pieces of tissue paper and roll it into balls to create flower petals.

Step 6: Glue the tissue paper flower petals to the top of the stems.

Step 7: Grab your markers and write a message wherever you see space on the paper for your Mom or someone special!

Take a picture of your creation and tag us at #jjmlibrary or email it to us at kids@johnjermain.org.

Happy Mother’s Day!
