Registered voters in the Sag Harbor Union Free School District will vote on the proposed 2027 budget as well as elect two trustees to fill two (2) at-large seats, each with a three-year term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2029.

Nominating petitions for candidates for members of the Board of Trustees will be available as of Monday, July 27, 2026, from the Executive Director of the John Jermain Memorial Library or at the Reference Desk of the John Jermain Memorial Library between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.  Click here to download in English or in Spanish

Nomination forms must be filed with the District Clerk Chris McNamara no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Each eligible candidate for election to the Board of Trustees shall submit his/her name on a nominating petition with a minimum of 25 supporting signatures of registered voters of the Sag Harbor School District. An incumbent member of the Board of Trustees who is eligible for re-nomination shall submit his/her name on a nominating petition with a minimum of 25 supporting signatures of registered voters in the Sag Harbor School District.  Candidates may provide a short statement (no more than 350 words) to the Library, describing their qualifications for membership on the Board of Trustees.  Candidates for election shall be elected as follows: the two candidates who receive the highest number of votes shall be elected.

A public hearing on the budget and a trustee candidates forum will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. For additional information and registration details, please email kharris@johnjermain.org

Registered voters residing within the Sag Harbor Union Free School District may obtain an application for an absentee ballot beginning July 31, 2026 during school business hours from the Sag Harbor School District Clerk, 200 Jermain Avenue, Sag Harbor, or from the Director of John Jermain Library between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Absentee Ballot applications are also available for download here in Spanish and English.

Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk by September 17, 2026 if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or by September 23, 2026, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m., prevailing time, on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
