Can We Include
Your Music in Our
Local Music Collection?
The John Jermain Library, which is Sag Harbor's public library, is archiving the music of local artists in a special collection. Right now we’re getting the word out to local artists, asking for donations of their CDs to add to our lending collection.
These recordings will carry a special designation in the library’s catalog so that they are easily located by local music enthusiasts, as well as more casual listeners. In addition, the collection will be shelved separately from other CDs for easy browsing.
Eventually—and only with your permission—we plan to make some of this music available as a searchable online music archive that can be streamed (but not downloaded) over the internet. However, we are just beginning to work out the technical, legal and financial details of streaming media, so it will be at least a few months before this part of the program is up and running.
If you live on eastern Long Island or perform regularly here, and would like to have your music included in our collection, please contact Eric Cohen at 631-725-0049, ext. 237, or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
