Halloween Happenings at the Library

Halloween is getting closer, and here at the library we’re getting in the spirit! Check out what spooky and festive events the library has going on this month. All the events listed here will be at the library building. Please remember to wear a mask when inside the library.

Halloween Pumpkin Painting Kit

Pick-up begins on Thursday, October 14
For children ages 4-17. Help us decorate the library! Bring home a mini white pumpkin and some paint and create a Halloween masterpiece. Then, return your decorated pumpkin to the library before October 31 and get a Boo Bag FILLED with snacks and candy! Pumpkins will be on display in the Children’s Department throughout October. On Halloween Day, they will be displayed outside in the library’s clover as a festive Pumpkin Patch families can visit while Trick-or-Treating. Learn more and reserve your kit


Teen Mystery Game

Thursday, October 14, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
For teens grades 6-12. Join us for a Scary-Movie Night themed mystery game for 6-12 players. Oakley Starr is hosting a scary movie night for a group of close friends. Let’s hope everyone minds their manners and doesn’t try to stop Oakley from pushing play on the remote control. You’ve been invited to Oakley’s home for a night of terrifying thrills and fun- this is where your story begins… Learn more and register


1985 Murder Mystery Game Night

Thursday, October 28, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
For adults. Celebrate Halloween and relive the ’80s in as a character in our light-hearted murder mystery party, “Murder in 1985.” A minimum of 5 people are needed to play, so be sure to register in advance. You will be emailed your character prior to the event- feel free to dress up and get into character before our meet-up! Learn more and register


Teen Haunted House Painting

Friday, October 29, 4:30 – 5:30 PM
For teens grades 6-12. An instructor will lead you through painting techniques in this in-person program. Create a fun spooky Haunted House! Learn more and register


Halloween Story Time

Sunday, October 31, 11:00 – 11:30 AM
For children with an adult. Kids, join us on Halloween for this fun and festive story time. Feel free to come in your Halloween costume! Please arrive early to ensure your seat. Learn more


Pumpkin Patch & Pumpkin Trail

Stop by the library for some trick-or-treating at the Welcome Desk as part of the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce Pumpkin Trail! The library will also have all our patron decorated pumpkins out on display from 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM that day. See if you can spot yours!
