Our New “Plaza Pick-up” Service Has Begun!

2/2/2021 Update: The library is open for 20 minute browsing and 40 minute computer use by appointment only Tuesday-Friday, 10:30 am – 5:30 pm, and Saturdays 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Please call us at 631-725-0049 to make an appointment. Plaza Pick-Up is still available on these days at the same time, with an addition of Mondays, 10:00am – 3:00 pm (no appointments on Mondays).

Materials in the John Jermain Memorial Library collection are now available for outdoor pick-up.  Patrons can reserve books, CDs and DVDs through our online catalog, by calling the library at 631.725.0049 x0, or by sending an email to holds@johnjermain.org.  Not sure exactly what you want? Call or email to tell us what you are looking for and we will make selections for you!  A package of picture booksRom-Coms for the sultry nights of summer?  Or, perhaps like me you are looking for a book of poetry to guide you through the times.

When your items are ready, we’ll call to let you know they’re available for pick-up at our lower level garden entrance.  Pick-up times are Tuesday-Friday, 10:30 am – 5:30 pm, and Saturdays & Mondays 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, with the exception of holidays. When you are on your way, call us at 631.725.0049 x0 and we will place your materials on a table, located just outside the door. Sometimes cell phone calls made from the Plaza area don’t get through to us–but if you knock on the door, or just wave your arms at us, we will respond!

Reserved items will be held for one week.  When you arrive, please wear a mask and stay six feet from your neighbors—we want to make sure our community stays healthy!

Please put all returns in our outdoor book drop.  Items may remain checked out to you for three to four days after drop-off, as we are following recommended procedures for quarantine of library materials.  We never charge overdue fines!

We look forward to providing additional library services as we continue to un-Pause. In the meantime, our online resources, e-books, remote programs, and reference services are still available.  Need a library card?  Call us at (631) 725-0049 and we’ll be happy to help! Be sure to register for our summer reading clubs—the programs are digital this year; the raffle prizes are awesome!  For more information about these and other services, check out our FAQ page.

And to all our friends who’ve asked: It’s great to be back, thank you!

    1. Hi Lucian,
Suffolk Cooperative Library System is hoping to begin ILL deliveries from other Suffolk County Libraries soon after June 24th. Out of county holds are, well, still on hold for now.

    1. Hi Susan,
We are collecting coats only (no other items) for the local Food Pantry through 12/31. You can bring in clean and lightly used items to place in a box located in our Lower Level Lobby, at the Jefferson St. entrance. We are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:30 to 5:30, Thursdays until 6:30, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 3:00. We will be closed 12/24 and 12/25 for the holidays. Thank you so much for your question and for your support!
