- Long Wharf – Chill on benches with great water- and yacht-views along both sides and at end of the pier. Fantastic sunsets.
- The Windmill – Relax at picnic tables and benches, or sit on the sand.
- Marine Park – Sprawl on the grass or sit on benches or at picnic tables. Great view of the harbor, lots of sailboats and yachts.
- Havens Beach – Bring a blanket and enjoy an hour or two in the sun. (Village permit required for parking.)
- Bench outside Sag Harbor Baking Company – Come for the wonderful aroma of fresh baked goods, or come on Tuesdays when they’re closed, for a more peaceful read.
- Sag Harbor Shopping Cove – Sit at outdoor tables, some with market umbrellas, while enjoying an iced latte.
- One of the many benches on Main Street – A bit frenetic in summer, but someone will probably stop to ask you what you’re reading.
- Benches outside the Custom House – Dual benches at entrance to the historic Custom House Museum on a shady and quiet(er) part of Main Street.
- Steps of the Whaling Museum – A cool, shady spot, surrounded by history. You may find a rocking chair waiting for you there, in season.
- John Jermain Memorial Library Courtyard – The courtyard offers movable tables and chairs, benches, lovely plantings, and a “Little Free Library” in a sunny location.
- Otter Pond – Sit on a bench and enjoy a shady view of Sag Harbor’s well-known pond. Ducks and geese are often here, but please don’t feed them.
- Mashashimuet Park – Sit on a bench or bring a blanket and spread out on the grass. Watch the little ones enjoying the playground when you need a break from your book.
- Long Beach – A bit further afield—you’ll need a car or bike to get here, but on a hot day it can’t be beat. Come back at sunset for some spectacular views. (Southampton Town parking permit required for main parking field in season. Some free parking is available at the west end of the lot via a separate entrance. Bikes always park free :-)
