Inaugural Event: What Keeps a Democracy Vibrant?
On Saturday, October 13, at 6:00 p.m., Sag Harbor residents John Avlon and Sally Susman will discuss the state of the democracy in the run-up to the 2018 midterm election. This sure-to-be-lively dialogue will be followed by a Q & A session and reception.
John Avlon is a Senior Political Analyst at CNN, and former editor of The Daily Beast. He is the author of several books, including Washington’s Farewell: The Founding Father’s Warning to Future Generations, in which he highlights the history and content of Washington’s parting treatise to the American people in the context of the contemporary political climate.
Sally Susman is a writer, business executive, political strategist and civic leader. Currently Pfizer, Inc.’s Executive Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Susman was a presidential appointee in the Clinton Administration and National Finance Committee member for President Obama and Secretary Hillary Clinton. She is on the Board of the International Rescue Committee and a former trustee of the Library of Congress.
This new series is named in memory of educator and activist Paul A. Wagner, and is underwritten by generous donations from his family. Pre-registration required. Attendance is limited to 75.
