On February 3rd 1959, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson were killed in a tragic plan crash. Rock & Roll, which was still in it’s infancy, lost three of it’s most promising performers.

Don McLean alludes to the tragedy in his classic song American Pie – it was “the day the music died.”
