Library Closing for 12 Days on 6/20/11

Beginning on Monday, June 20, 2011, the John Jermain Memorial Library will be closed for 12 days so that  we can move to a new (temporary) home at 34 West Water Street, Sag Harbor, (across from the Post Office). The Library will reopen in the West Water Street facility on Saturday, July 2, at 10:00 am.

As mentioned in the previous post, if you request a book from our online catalog during the 10 days we are closed, please choose either ROGM (Rogers Memorial Library, Southampton), EHAM (East Hampton Library) or BRID (Hampton Library, Bridgehampton) as the pick-up location for your items. John Jermain will resume being a valid pickup location on July 11, 2011.

Our Temporary Home
JJML will be housed in the temporary facility for between 18 and 24 months as our historic home on Main Street is renovated and expanded. While smaller than our Main Street building, the temporary space is bright and cheery with lovely water views of Sag Harbor Cove and the Lance Corporal Jordan Haerter Memorial Bridge. We’ll still have WiFi and places to sit comfortably with your laptop, as well as public computers, a small program room, and a cozy area for story time for the kids.

While We’re Away
Due to the restraints of the smaller space, we will not be able to bring our entire collection with us. However, we will have a good-sized collection of classics and popularmaterials in all genres and for all ages. And, almost all the books that we will have “in storage” are on open shelves at the Suffolk Cooperative Library System in Bellport, NY, and can be obtained by request with a day’s notice.

In addition, our neighboring libraries, The Hampton Library in Bridgehampton, The East Hampton Library and Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton are extending full borrowing privileges to all John Jermain patrons from June 20, 2011, until the time JJML returns to 201 Main Street.

We’re Always Available Online
Oh, and don’t forget, even when we’re closed you can always visit our Digital Branch at  to access  free online resources including music, videos, audiobooks, and e-book downloads, live K-12 homework help, career guidance, college test prep, and much, much more.

Got fines?
As our way of celebrating the move, we’re waiving all fines for overdue materials during the month of July for anyone who stops into our temporary space and uses or updates his or her library card. So, please stop by and visit us in our new home beginning at 10:00 am on July 2, 2011. We look forward to showing you around!
