Public Invited to Comment on JJML Site Plan

Sag Harbor’s planning board will be holding an informal meeting at which they will review the site plan for the restoration and expansion of the library. The public is invited to attend and comment.

From the Village’s official public notice:

“The Village of Sag Harbor Planning Board will hold an informal meeting on the site plan application of the John Jermain Memorial Library on Tuesday April 27, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Hall, at which time the applicant will present a description of the proposed project and the public will be provided with an opportunity to identify concerns.  This is not a scoping session under the State Environmental Quality Review Act.  All members of the public are invited to attend and will be heard.”

We, the trustees and staff of the John Jermain Memorial Library, are very much looking forward to hearing what the public has to say. We encourage everyone who is interested in the project to attend this meeting.

  1. Any addition to a pivotal structure needs to be well conceived and sensitively handled; in these regards, JJML’s is exceptional. But arguments for exclusive adherence to period architecture ignore the organic nature of communities, of an institution’s need to evolve, and of how culturally vibrant places remain so.
