It's Germane

Cornucopia_0078_edited-1Thanks to all the libarary patrons and staff members who have shared the bounty from their gardens with the library staff. We are all most appreicative of the favor (and the flavor), and love having fine local vegetables and flowers to enjoy. Based on what’s passed through here so far, we’d say this has been an excellent year for local backyard gardeners. The accompanying photos show just a part of the continuing flow of edibles and flowers — those that where was available on a recent Monday afternoon. We always knew that working in a library was good for one’s mind, but we didn’t know until now that it could also be good for one’s body.

Cornucopia_0073_edited-1“I used to visit and revisit it a dozen times a day, and stand in deep contemplation over my vegetable progeny with a love that nobody could share or conceive of who had never taken part in the process of creation. It was one of the most bewitching sights in the world to observe a hill of beans thrusting aside the soil, or a rose of early peas just peeping forth sufficiently to trace a line of delicate green.” — Nathaniel Hawthorne
